As of August 2022

In late 2021, we found out that the district was considering dissolving Dr. MLK Jr. Elementary and making our school the new location for a relocated Harriet Tubman Middle School (HTMS). Through many meetings with school board members, politicians and the media, sign-on letters, and taking to the streets, we were able to get PPS to reconsider its plans. Working together, we saved our school!

Since that time the PTA and other school families have been working hard to ensure that whatever new location PPS selects for HTMS is one that works for our diverse school community.

We continue to face challenges in getting PPS to take community engagement seriously, but we have hope that if our school community continues to work together we can find options that work well. Please sign up for the PTA contact list, and we will keep you informed with future updates.
